6-in-1 Solar Robot Kit

solar-robot-kitWhat is it?
We will not pretend to understand the science of transforming lovely sunlight into useful electricity, but we do love it. This is especially true when it is combined with something fun like this 6 in 1 Solar Robot Kit.

As the name suggests this is a kit that allows you to build 6 different robots that are powered by that big, bright yellow, day moon (the sun). It comes with kiddie-proof instructions and if the sun is feeling a little shy, you can also run the eco friendly bots on a not so eco friendly, 50w halogen bulb. Educational toys really should not be this fun.

Why do I want it?
One of our rules is that anything with “robot” in the title always deserves a look and this is especially true when it claims to, “not require any batteries“. The designs of the robots are basic but functional and we definatly have our favourites. So we have decided to rank our chosen favourites, podium style:

solar-robot-carIn 3rd place is… the car. The speed at which the little beast can move is impressive and things reach Formula 1 status when you shine a bulb a centimeter away from it!

solar-robot-planeIn 2nd place is….. the revolving plane. A surprise entry and solely due to the fact it makes a brilliant desk top gadget. Once the sun hits it, it spins, and spins, and spins, Weeeeeeee…

solar-robot-boatOn top of the podium in the much coveted 1st place spot is….. the air boat. It floats like a good-un and like the boat, can build up some impressive knots once the sun hit’s its tiny solar engine.

The other 3 designs are very good, but not podium worthy in our opinion. The dog is cute but a little creepy, the static plane is pointless and the windmill is just not as fun as the revolving plane. All in all this great bit of eco-tech is so much more than a children’s educational toy, its modern day magic, the 6 in 1 Solar Robot Kit is definitely worth a closer look!

First use of “plane”, correct. But then suddenly you had a “static plain”, which totally doesn’t work since the plain, or prairie, generally is fairly static. And “plain” again in the comment on the windmill. Both those instances really want to be “plane”. Also, re the boat, completely unnecessary apostrophe in “hit’s”, although points for not using one in “its”.

Hey there, didn’t realise this was the site I was visiting from my comments section… nice logo btw ;)

These little robots look fun but from the looks of it the boat tops them all… If they could somehow make a small little radio controlled rudder it would be perfect… not sure the whole thing could be solar powered though!
