Walkie Talkie Watches
November 24, 2009
What are They?
It doesn’t take a genius to work out what Walkie Talkie Watches could be. Yes. you guessed it…. Its two watches that double up as walkie talkies. Granted, the first thing we thought was “a walkie talkie in a watch! That’ll be poo, as it will have no range, eat batteries, have no functions and be seriously fiddly/difficult to use”. So naturally we had to have a closer look.
At first glance we were surprised by the size. They are oversized, compared to a Casio watch, but not as much as you might think. The face of the “watch” only measures in at 7 x 6 x 2.5cm and when you consider that the aerial can be folded in and out when needed it is surprisingly small. The next thing we noticed was that they come with an AC adapter and earpiece each. So the AC adapter means no replacing batteries and no wind-up walkie talkies, Bonus! And the AC adapter means no batteries necessary, double bonus!

What is it?
When we first heard about this “TV tablet”, we got extremely excited with ideas about what exactly a TV tablet could do, flew around the office. We were slightly embarrassed when we realized that this was infact a media player and not a pill but our interest was still peaked.

Laser Airzooka
July 29, 2009
What is it?
The official line is that the Laser Airzooka is “A bucket shaped, high tech, soft combat, high velocity air cannon with a laser targeting system”!?!
Put in GFM speak that means it’s a “big gun that shoots air…… accurately”. The Airzooka has been kicking around for some time now so cant exactly be called “new tech”, but it has just received a surprising facelift with the addition of a laser sighting and a change of colour. The Airzooka now comes in stealthy black and they have replaced the old flick up clear plastic sight with a class I laser target.

Lego Millennium Falcon (Mid-Scale)
July 11, 2009
What is it?
This is a double barrelled blast of nostalgia. The Lego Mid-Scale Millennium Falcon is a piece of engineering brilliance and is cool on so many levels:
1) Its STAR WARS, enough said!
2) Its made of Lego, which is receiving a nostalgic revival at the moment as man children like us buy cool Lego sets like this!
3) It looks super cool once its built and wont take you 2 years studying for an architecture degree to finish it, unlike perhaps the full-size behemoth Lego Millennium Falcon kit you can also get.
Wind Up Walkie Talkies
July 2, 2009
What is it?
This is no “Wind Up”, ha ha (had to get that joke in before anyone else). What you’re looking at is a set of walkie talkies that are powered through the age old art of winding. Like clocks of old, to make these little eco-gadgets work you simply flick out the wind handle, take a firm grip of these Wind Up Walkie Talkies and “wind” like a good-un.
The wind to power ratio works out quite nicely: One minute of winding equates to 10 minutes of standby or 2 minutes of talk time and if you wind your way to a full charge it will give you 8 hours of standby or an hour and a half of talk time!
Ice Cream Ball – Make Your Own Delicious Dessert!
June 25, 2009
What is it?
You won’t Adam and Eve it. Its only a bloomin ball that makes ice cream. Mental note to self, turn Eastenders off before starting a review. So without the southern twang, the Ice Cream Ball is an innovative way of turning cream and sugar into your very own, Ben and Jerry’s beating, ice cream. What makes this little kitchen gadget even better is that it does all this without the need to plug it in.
6-in-1 Solar Robot Kit
June 19, 2009
What is it?
We will not pretend to understand the science of transforming lovely sunlight into useful electricity, but we do love it. This is especially true when it is combined with something fun like this 6 in 1 Solar Robot Kit.
As the name suggests this is a kit that allows you to build 6 different robots that are powered by that big, bright yellow, day moon (the sun). It comes with kiddie-proof instructions and if the sun is feeling a little shy, you can also run the eco friendly bots on a not so eco friendly, 50w halogen bulb. Educational toys really should not be this fun.
