Gadget Show Live Preview

As you may already know Channel 5’s Gadget Show are doing a “Live” show that kicks off this Friday. Not wanting to miss a thing GFM will be attending in force and hopefully get some juicy scoops on new and upcoming gadgets.
The event sold out some time ago but they are doing regular online updates for all the people who were unable to secure themselves a ticket (see video below). It wont be as good as being at the event, but we think it is a great way to get everyone involved. The show runs from Friday the 17th to Sunday 19th of April at the NEC Birmingham and has some interesting stands listed in the pre show bumf. Some of the stands we will definitely be visiting include:
Garlic Zoom Kitchen Cutter/Chopper

What is it?
The Garlic Zoom is as you can probably guess, a new kitchen gadget that allows you to chop garlic with ease. You simply pop the cloves of garlic required into the little bladed contraption then push it along your work surface.
The wheels drive the internal blades that slice and dice the little stinking cloves. Simply tap the garlic out when it has reached your required consistency and add it to your chosen cuisine.
USB Riff Rocker Game Controller

What is it?
The Riff Rocker is essentially a USB controller for a game. You plug the little rocker into a free USB socket, download the two games off the Riff Rocker website, and then thrash your little fingers off.
The downloadable games come with the usual 3 difficulty settings and are based around the guitar heroes-esc format of “press the correct coloured button in time with the on screen prompt”.

We have been thinking about our reviews hear at GFM and along with some quite frank feedback, realised that not all people enjoy our lengthy and very witty posting style.
So we did some very in-depth market research (had a look at a couple of other sights, asked our mums and discussed with mates at the local boozer) into what people really wanted to read.
Pole Dancing Kit – Peekaboo!

Need a romantic gift? You have come to the right place because here at GFM we know romance. What better way to say I love you and add a bit of class to your home than with the Peekaboo Pole. At first glance I can hear you shift uneasily in your seat as you think “This is no gadget for a man, well at least no normal man!”, but think a little harder and you will see the bigger picture.
We have tried, but have failed to see a downside to any bloke buying this for his woman, as both the giver and receiver of the Peekaboo Pole dancing pole will receive benefits, which we have broken down as follows:
Solar Charger Keyring (Mobile Phone)

We love it when some bright spark takes good, complicated technology and makes it easy and portable for us “average Joes” to use. This Solar Charger Keyring is a cracking example. Mobile solar charges are not exactly new tech, but we always found them to be a bit too bulky and far too much effort to use (pull panels out of here, twist centre section there, etc…). This new gen version is much more “average Joe” friendly. Its simple instruction pamphlet (yes, we used the word pamphlet) should really only have two instructions: Attach to key ring and attach to device when needed.
Hacked USB Memory Stick

Funny USB memory sticks are now that common they rarely even raise an eyebrow from us upon viewing, unless they are totally off the wall. This 2GB USB memory stick raised both eyebrows and even brought on a little titter. Any PC savvy person will cringe at the thought of jerking a laptop away with USB still attached to source items, and this is why this Hacked USB Memory Stick works.
Foolproof Egg Timer – Boil The Perfect Egg!

Foolproof is a bold claim, like unsinkable – and we know what happened to the titanic! And then to state this along side something as egg-zact as boiling an egg, we were dubious to say the least about the Foolproof Egg Timer. Upon closer investigation we realised this little red egg actually works on some simply complicated science, that we won’t bore you with, but as a result actually makes the timer surprisingly accurate, in a surprising number of ways.
Spy Camera Sunglasses

If you know GFM you will know that we love spy gadgets that have practical uses. Yep we actually love them and these funky looking spy camera sun glasses are no exception. Hold up! A practical use for spy camera sunglasses? Honestly? Bear with us and all will be explained.
So lets start with the basics. They are essentially a pair of smart looking shades with 1GB of memory and a 1.3 mega-pixel covert camera built in. Our first thoughts were along the lines of; “How the hell are you going to be able to hide a 1.3 mega-pixel camera and all the rest of the electronics involved ‘covertly?
The glasses will be much bigger than usual and any numpty will easily be able to tell something is up!” – Yes, the arms of the shades are slightly oversized but not to the extent we were expecting.
MiniCat – Catamaran In A Rucksack!

Its time to let the cat out of the bag, but not as you might expect. Welcome to one of the most ingenious gadgets I have every seen, welcome to the MiniCat. This fine engineering feat is basically a Catamaran in a rucksack. A dingy in a bag, that’s a child’s toy! You could not be further from the mark, this is no dingy and this is certainly no child’s toy.
