Spy Clock Secret Video Camera – Motion & Sound Sensor Activated!

“The weather in Russia is good this time of year, comrade…” “Indeed, and the fish is good at café de crem…” Right then, now the normal spy formalities are over and we have the obligatory confirmation code out the way, let’s get down to some proper spying.

The motion and sound activated Spy Clock Secret Camera is by far one of the most covert spy gadgets that we have featured. Admittedly, you are not going to miss this pretty cool looking clock on a shelf, but it is styled in such a way that it won’t look out of place in any office or home.

This is a must for any piece of covert security recording equipment and the fact it is a desk clock not a wall one means you can point it in the direction that you want to record.

The size of the device is also key as it is small enough to fit in your pocket (4.8 x 4.5 x 1.8 cm when folded) allowing you to easily palm it away when required.

So it ticks two of the big covert recording boxes with it being inconspicuously styled and portable (much like the Spy Pen Video Camera) but how does it fare on probably the biggest area, how well does it work?

As we have come to expect with nearly every covert camera we cover nowadays, it records in 4:3 ratio at 640×480 (VGA) 30fps with audio and outputs it all in an AVI format. That means any footage is easily clear enough to recognise faces and “other stuff”, but that’s not the best thing about this great spy gadget.

The defining feature is that it has a built-in motion and audio sensor. This means it only records onto the built in 4GB storage when there is actually something to record. For those not in the know, this might seem like a fairly minor point, but for those more educated spies out there, this is a really big positive.

It basically means that you don’t have to trawl through hours of footage for the 5 second section where something actually happened. It also means that the 2 hour video record time (with is always a problem on better operated surveillance gear) can now be really stretched out as it is only recording when someone is in front of the clock or is making a noise near it, so the battery and storage can last for days!

Another great bonus is that the Motion and Sound Sensitive Spy Clock also has a micro SD memory card slot so you can quickly remove the footage from the device rather than having to take it away and plug it into a PC.

Overall this is probably the best piece of covert recording equipment we have seen and you get it all, delivered to your door at a surprisingly pocket pleasing price, so this means it’s a great time to get your spy career started or perhaps add it to your growing collection of spy gadgets!

Spy Pen Video Camera – Covert Audio & Video Recorder

If you had not noticed, we love spy gadgets hear at GFM like the great Spy Camera Sunglasses we covered. This Spy Pen Video Camera carries on the covert filming theme as it is pretty much what the title says. A pen with a built in video camera. It still amazes us how they manage to squeeze a camera into something so small. What really amazed us was what else this covert spy gadget had to offer as well.

For starters the camera shoots in VGA quality and stores them as JPG files that are time and date stamped. So that’s a “pen” that can shoot movies in exactly the same quality that an old school video player could show. How technology has moved on never ceases to amaze us.

The next great thing about the pen is that it also records audio. This is a massive plus as you can use the pen as a covert microphone as well as a camera. Catching that all important “I am telling you off the record” conversation has never been so easy, obviously you could do this with a voice recording watch, but you’d obviously miss having these other features of this nifty spy pen!

So you have recorded the all important transaction or covertly recorded the conversation now it’s going to be a right faff on to get the recordings off, right? Wrong! It couldn’t be easier, seriously. You simply unscrew the pen in the middle to reveal a USB connector. Simply plug that into your PC and transfer over the records. What if you don’t have the space to plug a pen into your USB slot? No problem it comes with a USB extender cable to make life even easier.

So now we know it has a camera, a microphone and a USB connector, “it must be huge and look nothing like a pen”, was our next thought. Nope, its just like a normal pen (14.5 x 1 x 1 cm ) and would not look out of place on anyones desk. We kid you not, just look at the photo!

So if it’s small, it must have a really short battery life and only store 20 seconds of footage. Wrong again. On a full charge (via usb that takes about 60 mins to charge) it will last about 90 mins. In those 90 minutes of time you can fill the internal 2GB of storage with footage. We don’t mean to sound funny but if you cant covertly shoot the scene you want in an hour, you should probably hang up your spy hat and replace it with a big white D cone and go sit back in the corner.

Thats a pretty big spec for such a small spy gadget, but it is not finished yet. It also works as a pen! Seriously. It also comes with 3 ink refills just in case you like writing with it that much. All in all the Spy Video Camera Pen is one of the best covert spy gadgets we have seen yet!

Walkie Talkie Watches

What are They?
It doesn’t take a genius to work out what Walkie Talkie Watches could be. Yes. you guessed it…. Its two watches that double up as walkie talkies. Granted, the first thing we thought was “a walkie talkie in a watch! That’ll be poo, as it will have no range, eat batteries, have no functions and be seriously fiddly/difficult to use”. So naturally we had to have a closer look.

At first glance we were surprised by the size. They are oversized, compared to a Casio watch, but not as much as you might think. The face of the “watch” only measures in at 7 x 6 x 2.5cm and when you consider that the aerial can be folded in and out when needed it is surprisingly small. The next thing we noticed was that they come with an AC adapter and earpiece each. So the AC adapter means no replacing batteries and no wind-up walkie talkies, Bonus! And the AC adapter means no batteries necessary, double bonus!

A big grey power button brings the wrist pleaser to life and shows you the time on the large backlit screen. Now this is where the watch really starts to show its true colours. It comes with 22 channels, each with its own sub-channels, meaning you would have to be seriously unlucky to cross connections with a stranger. Once the aerial is flicked out and you have used the built in channel scan to find its counterpart, you can start to talk to each other.

There is no messy pressing of buttons to speak and calling everyone “Charlie, over” as the units are voice activated! It even has an incoming call alert to tell you that the other person wants to chat to you and the earpieces have a built in PTT button. This makes them seriously easy to use and while out and about they become almost instinctively simple.

These are all very good points but they are not our favourite. Our biggest pre concern about the walkie talkie watches was that the range was going to be about as far as you could see, in the dark, when drunk. How wrong could we have been? The main trick that these gadgets possess is that they have a range of 5km! That’s further than I can see in the day, sober, and with some really good glasses. We have learnt our lesson not to pre-judge a book by its proverbial cover…

Why do want it?
If the idea of walkie talkie watches with a 5km range does not interest you then this probably is not the website for you. We did not have to think hard to see a number of possible applications that these little gadgets could help with. This could range from the most obvious uses, like outdoor activities with friends (hiking, mountain biking, paint balling) to the more social or quirky (stay in contact with a friend at work/school, communicate between cars on a road trip, keep in contact with a co-worker while on a job) these brilliant watches could really make life easier.

Our favourite thoughts were of organising calculated battle manoeuvres while out paintballing. Keeping in close communication with the rest of your army could lead to perfectly timed attacks on your unsuspecting victims. TAKE NO PRISONERS! Fancy something for serene? Another helpful use was brought up by a member of the team who loves biking. Thanks to the earpiece and wrist mounted position it would be easy to communicate with other members of your party while on the road and would allow you to pass on words of encouragement or, most probably, abuse.

The final surprise is the price! We could not believe that such great bits for gadget tech were going for so little. Wind Up Walkie Talkies

What is it?
This is no “Wind Up”, ha ha (had to get that joke in before anyone else). What you’re looking at is a set of walkie talkies that are powered through the age old art of winding. Like clocks of old, to make these little eco-gadgets work you simply flick out the wind handle, take a firm grip of these Wind Up Walkie Talkies and “wind” like a good-un. The wind to power ratio works out quite nicely: One minute of winding equates to 10 minutes of standby or 2 minutes of talk time and if you wind your way to a full charge it will give you 8 hours of standby or an hour and a half of talk time!

Cant be bothered to wind or just hate the environment? Don’t worry it comes with a 6v mains adapter so you can save your arm for other activities. That’s enough winding chatter, what else does it have to offer? We were genuinely surprised to find out that the range of this two-some was up to 3km and you could choose between 8 different channels to broadcast on. We were also impressed with the rugged design as is also easy to use and as it measure in at a poultry 12.5 x 7 x 4cm, so it’s small enough to slip into most rucksacks.

Why do I want it?
As far as wind up gadgets go this is by far the best application of the technology we’ve seen. What makes this gadget stand out even more is the multitude of scenario based uses it offers. E.g:

Off to a festival this year? What better way to keep in touch with festival buddies than with this pocket pleaser.
Live near someone but cant be arsed to dial their number into your home phone? Give the call button on your walkie talkie a buzz and see if they will pick up.
Off travelling round the world with a mate? Take one portable power generator each in case you ever get separated in a Tai ping pong club or in the Aussie outback.

Don’t get us wrong, we love mobile phones but why bother wasting your credit and battery calling a mate who is literally round the corner or just out of ear shot. These portable, easy to use, eco friendly gadgets will never leave you with that helpless “out of battery feeling” again. So give the Wind Up Walkie Talkies a go and claim your free talk time.

Spy Sun Glasses

If you know GFM you will know that we love spy gadgets that have practical uses. Yep we actually love them and these funky looking spy camera sun glasses are no exception. Hold up! A practical use for spy camera glasses? Honestly? Bear with us and all will be explained.

So lets start with the basics. They are essentially a pair of smart looking shades with 1GB of memory and a 1.3 mega-pixel covert camera built in. Our first thoughts were along the lines of; “How the hell are you going to be able to hide a 1.3 mega-pixel camera and all the rest of the electronics involved ‘covertly? The glasses will be much bigger than usual and any numpty will easily be able to tell something is up!” Yes, the arms of the shades are slightly oversized but not to the extent we were expecting.

They also have ear phones attached to each arm as the memory can act as an mp3 player. This is nothing new as Oakley did it years ago and music playing sunglasses are becoming ever more popular. And this is where the genius lies. When someone sees the larger than usual arms they may suspect something, but when they realise it is an mp3 player nearly all suspicion goes out of the window. The camera itself is surprisingly small and cleverly placed on the front right arm of the glasses. In our opinion, if someone was to see the camera, they would have to have be stood that close you could have told them what they had for lunch by the remnants of it between their teeth. To take a photo you simply click a button, but not on the glasses (that would be hardly subtle). The shades are supplied with a tiny RF remote that can easily be concealed about your person so you can snap away without anyone suspecting a thing. Because the camera captures photos in a 1280×1024 resolution you can store 10,000 pics on the 1GB of memory. That’s more photos stealthily taken on a pair of glasses than the average person takes in their entire life. We love it.

So we are back to the original claim of showing the spy camera sun glasses actually have a practical use. The first person to point one of these out was a friend of GFM who asked where he could get a pair to go cycling with. He said the mp3 player would hold enough tracks for a “mountain session” and the camera would be a nice addition to take photos of the views (we laughed and called him a girl). You could also use these if your line of work requires, or is made easier by taking a lot of photos of whatever you are viewing e.g, private security, traffic wardens, doormen, government spys, stalkers etc… point proved? you decide.

In short: A pair of cool glasses with practical and/or covert uses.

Voice Recording Watch

I love multi-purpose gadgets, especially ones with practical and covert uses. This little gem of a voice recording watch is just such a gadget. Concealed within this fine piece of craftsmanship is 1GB of flash memory attached to a microphone. You may be asking how this is practical or covert. Or you might have already seen the nearest uses this gadget could be used for.

The microphone is cleverly placed so that you can clearly record while the watch is still on your wrist. This makes it very easy to covertly record conversations without raising suspicion. Perfect for people who need that extra bit of evidence or to catch that embarrassing info on tape that will allow you to extort pints from friends in exchange for your silence.

The flash player/recorder runs of a separate power source that will last for 9hrs per full charge. This is charged through an AC adapter or a USB cable that also allowing you to upload you new incriminating sound bites. The watch records in WAV format and comes with all the software you will need.

Some ideas are so simple they are brilliant. This USB Key Logger is one of those simple yet brilliant gadgets. It is essentially an external USB dock that goes between the keyboard and the computer. The advantages of this means that the computer/user will never know it is there so happily go about their business, unaware they are being monitored. It has a hefty 2MB memory built in.

You might be thinking that 2MB is rubbish compared to your new 16GB pen drive, but that 2MB memory converts to whopping 2 million key strokes. If you don’t have the info you need in 2 million key strokes you’re never going to get it. It’s Windows, Linux and Mac compatible and even works with keyboards with built in hubs. Once you have your “data” you simply switch the USB Key Log into pen drive mode and download the contents in an advanced flash file format.

A 38mm external device that will allow you to view every key stroke someone made on a computer without them ever knowing. The possibilities are endless…well not endless but here are a few ideas:

Programmers/writers can use it as a constant back up for code/text in case of crashes or power cuts.
Keep an eye on your Childs “PC Usage”. (Works in chartrooms)
Monitor your partners Facebook and Friends Reunited “correspondence”. (Works on emails and blog posts)

Having started a family I now find myself looking into ways I can secure my home and family. This is why I have started to look into different ways I can “monitor” my house. While browsing the internet for an external CCTV camera I also came across this little spy gadget and could not resist.

When we moved into the house it had an old school inactive alarm with the hard lines cut so as all the wiring for my old alarm sensors was still in, I only needed to hook up an AV pickup. The Covert PIR CCD Camera looks great and the picture/sound quality it supplies is not half bad neither. As it has a motion activated sensor built in you can set your receiver to record whenever active so you don’t miss a trick.

I personally use it to keep an eye on my child and the baby sitter (nothing sinister… well not all sinister) but you can use it where you please. It’s not the most subtle device on the market but I guarantee an unsuspecting house guest will not look at it twice in your living room. They might however question why you have an alarm sensor in the spare bedroom… pointed at the bed and not the window… don’t do it!

IN SHORT: Hard wired internal covert camera/microphone that will not be recognised in the right setting.
