Air Keyboard – Wireless Motion Control For Your Computer-HDTV Setup
December 1, 2010
What is an Air Keyboard and why do you need one for your living room? Well that’s what we thought when we first heard of it, but it does make sense as there’s been a massive trend recently of people hooking up their new HD TVs to their PCs. This has been largely due to the addition of HDMI outputs on new graphics cards and the new style mini PCs that are so compact they fit right alongside your DVD / Blu-Ray player and surround sound system.
The main problem with this kind of setup that we’ve come across at GFM HQ is that they become a lot more difficult to interact with. While you can opt for a wireless keyboard and mouse but they become a nightmare to balance on your knee and to use them properly you need your gran’s lap tray – not the coolest accessory to be seen with.
Spy Pen Video Camera – Covert Audio & Video Recorder
June 29, 2010
If you had not noticed, we love spy gadgets hear at GFM like the great Spy Camera Sunglasses we covered. This Spy Pen Video Camera carries on the covert filming theme as it is pretty much what the title says. A pen with a built in video camera. It still amazes us how they manage to squeeze a camera into something so small. What really amazed us was what else this covert spy gadget had to offer as well.
For starters the camera shoots in VGA quality and stores them as JPG files that are time and date stamped. So that’s a “pen” that can shoot movies in exactly the same quality that an old school video player could show. How technology has moved on never ceases to amaze us.
USB Riff Rocker Game Controller
April 10, 2009
What is it?
The Riff Rocker is essentially a USB controller for a game. You plug the little rocker into a free USB socket, download the two games off the Riff Rocker website, and then thrash your little fingers off.
The downloadable games come with the usual 3 difficulty settings and are based around the guitar heroes-esc format of “press the correct coloured button in time with the on screen prompt”.
Hacked USB Memory Stick
January 21, 2009
Funny USB memory sticks are now that common they rarely even raise an eyebrow from us upon viewing, unless they are totally off the wall. This 2GB USB memory stick raised both eyebrows and even brought on a little titter. Any PC savvy person will cringe at the thought of jerking a laptop away with USB still attached to source items, and this is why this Hacked USB Memory Stick works.
Lightsaber USB Lamp (Star Wars)
September 29, 2008
Could this be possible? Four of our favourite words/phrases making one glorious gadget. “Star Wars”, “Lightsaber”, “USB”, “Lamp”
Yes you can believe your eyes, it’s the Star Wars USB Lightsaber Lamp. I love this lamp!
Eco-Button – USB Computer Standby Gadget
August 26, 2008
A Gadget that helps to save the planet is not normally the first choice hear on GFM… But one that can also save you money and give your PC some protection peaked our interest. I give you, the Ecobutton.
This clever little thing is essentially a large LED back lit button that connects to your computer via a USB port. You give the large green button a push and hey presto, the magic happens, or in other words, you PC quickly goes into “Eco Mode”. Eco Mode is essentially standby mode that keeps you hard drive running, but does it while only using 1.8 watts of power (apparently that is loads less then most normal standby modes). I know what you are thinking; “Yawn” “Seen it before” “Who cares” and we thought the same when we first saw it. But read on as the best is yet to come.
USB Key Logger
July 20, 2008
Some ideas are so simple they are brilliant. This USB Key Logger is one of those simple yet brilliant gadgets. It is essentially an external USB dock that goes between the keyboard and the computer. The advantages of this means that the computer/user will never know it is there so happily go about their business, unaware they are being monitored. It has a hefty 2MB memory built in.
USB Plasma Ball
July 1, 2008
I can remember the days when I used to wish I could touch one of those plasma balls off Doctor Who. They looked so much fun and you only ever got to see one on the annual school trip to the science museum. Not any more! Own you very own ball for less than a round at your local boozer.
