MiniCat

minicat-super-blueIts time to let the cat out of the bag, but not as you might expect. Welcome to one of the most ingenious gadgets I have every seen, welcome to the MiniCat. This fine engineering feat is basically a Catamaran in a rucksack. A dingy in a bag, that’s a child’s toy! You could not be further from the mark, this is no dingy and this is certainly no child’s toy.

The spec for this sea beast speaks for itself. The Floats are 3.1 meters long, have a 300mm diameter and are made from hard wearing polyurethane. The mast stands 3.8 meters tall and comes in Aluminium as standard but can be ordered as a composite mix to save on weight. The trampoline (or deck to the boating novices) is 135cm by 95cm and can support 235kg, easily enough to support 2 “normal” adults or 1 man and his true love (a crate of lager). Considering the size of the thing we were impressed to hear it only takes about 30 mins to erect (no sniggering). We were even more impressed to see that this sturdy sea fairing transport comes in a bag that is 135cm x 30cm x 40cm, weighs 35-38kgs (dependent on model), has a 2 year warranty and even has its own small repair kit.

The MiniCat comes in 3 different models, each with their own subtle differences. The Standard is as the name suggests, the basic model. The Sport has the addition of a 1.42m2 Jib sale allowing more control and faster speeds. The top model is the Super, this comes with some crafty weight saving additions like a composite mast, making the catamaran even more responsive and agile. Still think its a children’s toy? Didn’t think so. All the minicab models come in a wide variety of colours at no extra cost and can be delivered to your door in 10 working days.

So if you ever fancied life on the open waves, but did not have the room, money, time and jaunty sailors hat, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. An ideal gadget for the novice boatmen or experience yacht man alike, the minicab can be all things, to all sailor men.

In Short: The MiniCat is a well engineered and professional 2 person catamaran that fits in a rucksack.
