Laser Airzooka

July 29, 2009

laser-airzookaWhat is it?
The official line is that the Laser Airzooka is “A bucket shaped, high tech, soft combat, high velocity air cannon with a laser targeting system”!?!

Put in GFM speak that means it’s a “big gun that shoots air…… accurately”.  The Airzooka has been kicking around for some time now so cant exactly be called “new tech”,  but it has just received a surprising facelift with the addition of a laser sighting and a change of colour.  The Airzooka now comes in stealthy black and they have replaced the old flick up clear plastic sight with a class I laser target.

6-in-1 Solar Robot Kit

June 19, 2009

solar-robot-kitWhat is it?
We will not pretend to understand the science of transforming lovely sunlight into useful electricity, but we do love it. This is especially true when it is combined with something fun like this 6 in 1 Solar Robot Kit.

As the name suggests this is a kit that allows you to build 6 different robots that are powered by that big, bright yellow, day moon (the sun). It comes with kiddie-proof instructions and if the sun is feeling a little shy, you can also run the eco friendly bots on a not so eco friendly, 50w halogen bulb. Educational toys really should not be this fun.

Kelvin.23 Multi-Tool

May 17, 2009

kelvin-23-toolWhat is it?
The very informatively titled Kelvin.23 is actually a pocket sized multi tool. “Nothing new, the Swiss and Leatherman have been doing this for year” we thought, but we looked a little closer. To start it has a flip out, magnetised screwdriver arm with 16 essential CRV screw bits.

Along side this it has a 2m/6ft tape measure, hammer surface (used for hammering stuff), spirit level and a Death Ray!… ok, maybe we embellished the last one but it does have an LED torch that looks a little death ray’ish.  All this when it weighs in at a slight 300g and measures a pocket pleasing 13.5×4x5cm is quite impressive.

Gadget Show Live Preview

April 13, 2009

gadget-show-live-april-2009As you may already know Channel 5’s Gadget Show are doing a “Live” show that kicks off this Friday. Not wanting to miss a thing GFM will be attending in force and hopefully get some juicy scoops on new and upcoming gadgets.

The event sold out some time ago but they are doing regular online updates for all the people who were unable to secure themselves a ticket (see video below). It wont be as good as being at the event, but we think it is a great way to get everyone involved. The show runs from Friday the 17th to Sunday 19th of April at the NEC Birmingham and has some interesting stands listed in the pre show bumf. Some of the stands we will definitely be visiting include:

GFM Review Ideals

April 8, 2009

notepadWe have been thinking about our reviews hear at GFM and along with some quite frank feedback, realised that not all people enjoy our lengthy and very witty posting style.

So we did some very in-depth market research (had a look at a couple of other sights, asked our mums and discussed with mates at the local boozer) into what people really wanted to read.

Pole Dancing Pole – Peekaboo!

February 12, 2009

peekaboo-dancing-poleNeed a romantic gift? You have come to the right place because here at GFM we know romance. What better way to say I love you and add a bit of class to your home than with the Peekaboo Pole. At first glance I can hear you shift uneasily in your seat as you think “This is no gadget for a man, well at least no normal man!”, but think a little harder and you will see the bigger picture.

We have tried, but have failed to see a downside to any bloke buying this for his woman, as both the giver and receiver of the Peekaboo Pole dancing pole will receive benefits, which we have broken down as follows:

Solar Mobile Phone Charger Keyring

February 2, 2009

solar-keychainWe love it when some bright spark takes good, complicated technology and makes it easy and portable for us “average Joes” to use. This Solar Keychain is a cracking example. Mobile solar charges are not exactly new tec, but we always found them to be a bit too bulky and far too much effort to use (pull panels out of here, twist centre section there, etc…). This new gen version is much more “average Joe” friendly. Its simple instruction pamphlet (yes, we used the word pamphlet) should really only have two instructions: Attach to key ring and attach to device when needed.

MiniCat

November 12, 2008

mini-catamaranIts time to let the cat out of the bag, but not as you might expect. Welcome to one of the most ingenious gadgets I have every seen, welcome to the MiniCat. This fine engineering feat is basically a Catamaran in a rucksack. A dingy in a bag, that’s a child’s toy! You could not be further from the mark, this is no dingy and this is certainly no child’s toy.

Eco-Button

August 26, 2008

eco-button-usbA Gadget that helps to save the planet is not normally the first choice hear on GFM… But one that can also save you money and give your PC some protection peaked our interest. I give you, the Ecobutton.

This clever little thing is essentially a large LED back lit button that connects to your computer via a USB port. You give the large green button a push and hey presto, the magic happens, or in other words, you PC quickly goes into “Eco Mode”. Eco Mode is essentially standby mode that keeps you hard drive running, but does it while only using 1.8 watts of power (apparently that is loads less then most normal standby modes). I know what you are thinking; “Yawn” “Seen it before” “Who cares” and we thought the same when we first saw it. But read on as the best is yet to come.

USB Plasma Ball

July 1, 2008

usb-plasma-ballI can remember the days when I used to wish I could touch one of those plasma balls off Doctor Who. They looked so much fun and you only ever got to see one on the annual school trip to the science museum. Not any more! Own you very own ball for less than a round at your local boozer.
